A boutique style hotel in the heart of De Waterkant, near the waterfront with the choice of four different types of rooms and individual accommodation in separate cottages. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available at the Charles Cafe with membership to the private beach club Sandy B overlooking Camps Bay beach. A charming property with underground parking, two roof terraces with views of the city and Table Mountain.

Location
Approximately a 20 minutes drive from the airport and 1 hr 30 from Langebaan, located in the centre of De Waterkant, The Charles is situated ideally to enjoy all Cape Town has to offer.
 

Accommodation
Originally adjoining to three historical houses, The Charles is a boutique hotel linked by inner and outer staircases. The hotel offers 13 rooms and 4 duplex cottages, there is a choice of four types of rooms all equipped with, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar fridge, safe, hairdryer, satellite television, fan or air-conditioning, heaters, mist fans and free WiFi. The variety of rooms include:

Classic Rooms, which include an en-suite, a king size bed that can convert into twin beds and views of the courtyard or city. 

Premier Rooms, which are fitted with an open plan bathroom with both a bath and shower, a king size bed that can convert in to twin beds, a day bed and a deck with views of the city.

Traveller’s Rooms, which are great for adventure travellers, these rooms include twin beds that can be converted in to a king size bed, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and views over the neighbourhood. These are located on the ground floor and could experience some noise. 

Cottages, which are located across the street from The Charles. Each cottage is equipped with a kitchen and living area on the ground floor and a bathroom and bedroom on the first floor. One of the cottages has two day beds and can sleep up to 4 guests.
 

Facilities
The Charles Hotel offers free WiFi, central underground parking (with an extra charge), a cafe on location and two roof decks with views of the city and Table Mountain. For the duration of the stay a membership for Sandy B is provided, this is a private beach club overlooking Camps Bay Beach, (no persons under the age 18 are allowed.) Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available at the Charles Cafe.


Our Opinion
We particularly liked the boutique atmosphere. A small, unique hotel with great rooftop terrace with views down to the waterfront area, friendly bar and lovely breakfast room.
