Sailing Spot and Conditions
The huge sandy lagoon provides predominantly flat water conditions with excellent wind conditions. As an added bonus, the other side of the peninsula offers perfect wave conditions which can be reached within a short time by car. The spot is a 40km long and 13 km wide lagoon, created by the peninsula of Dakhla which stretches into the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the side-shore winds from the north, the water is flat and thus offers amazing conditions for practicing and learning, as well as freestyle and racing. Depending on high and low tide there is an up to 300 meter long shallow water area right in front of the center. at the top of the lagoon.

Wave and Surfing Spots
Outside of the lagoon, Sportif now offer a choice of 5 wave spots for windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing and stand up paddle boarding. 2 (Lassarga and Westpoint) have accommodation on the spot and 3 (Point d'Or, White Dune and Aarish) can be reached within around 15-20 minutes drive from the nearest accommodation. Depending on the size of wave and your level, Sportif can advise on the best package to combine the conditions and sports you are looking for.

Wind and Waves
The wind blows throughout the year, on average around 320 days, with some of the most consistent wind stats year round. The wind direction is north-easterly and blows side-shore from the right. This makes the water inside the lagoon super flat close to the beach and gets choppier the further away you get. The wave spots are on the other side of the peninsular where the wind blows slightly side-onshore and is normally a few knots weaker than inside the lagoon.
