Sailing Spot and Conditions
The usually wind blows for six months of the year from the North East (Kaskazi) and then six months from the South East (Kusi). After the "short rains" of October, the Kaskazi howls in from mid December through January/February and lightens up towards the end of March. The best months to go are January, February, July and August. Enjoy flat water blasting or freestyle and down-the-line riding on the reef, 300-400m offshore. The winds average 20-35 knots with monsoon winds creating very big swells and up to 3.5m faces on the outer reef. The summer season is from mid December through to the end of March where the wind is side on averaging 15-25 knots and waves averaging 1.5m on the outer reef. There is all the space in the world, often with no-one else on the water.
Cultural Activities
Just a short drive away are the world famous Tsavo Game Parks of Kenya. Here you have the opportunity to view the spectacular wildlife while on a safari and stay in a Safari lodge for 1 to 7 nights. Marvel at the expansive plains of Amboseli in the imposing shadow of Kilimanjaro and experience huge herds of wildebeest migrating across the savannah in the Masai Mara.
