Gran Canaria offers windsurfing holidays with a combination of conditions. Flat water conditions and lighter winds at Bahia Feliz in the summer perfect for beginners and intermediates plus a choice of high wind locations for advanced windsurfers. Home to the windsurfing elite, Björn Dunkerbeck, Marcos Perez, Vidar Jensen and the Moreno sisters. No wonder with trade winds almost all year, picturesque fishing villages, cosmopolitan historic port towns such as Las Palmas, amazing mountain and desert landscapes, beaches and sun!


Sailing Spot and Conditions
With some of the finest windsurfing conditions of all the islands, Gran Canaria can offer high quality sailing at very different venues - Bahia Feliz, Salinas de Arinaga and Pozo Izquierdo. In Bahia Feliz the mainly sideshore wind creates perfect flat water conditions within the bay. In the winter strong thermal winds sweep across this south eastern edge of the island, creating an acceleration zone intermediates and advanced will enjoy, with planing conditions 60-70% of the days. Further out, wave novices will find a swell with waves that are just right for jumping. Swell height can reach about 1m with waves up to 3m at times. During summer, the winds are lighter at Bahia Feliz, but very powerful in local areas to the north. High wind excursions to Pozo, renowned World Cup destination Castillo del Romeral (Ketchup), Salinas de Arinaga and Vargas are only suitable for high wind and wave experts. More >

Culture and Activities
Bahia Feliz is only a 25 minute drive from the airport and close to San Augustin, Bahia Feliz is a self contained resort, consisting of a choice of hotel, catering apartment or villa accommodation. Both are set in attractive sub tropical gardens about 100 - 200m to the windsurfing centre at the beach, making this a great choice for windsurfers with family or groups of friends. Additional activities include SUP, surfing, boogie boards, volleyball, wave kayaks, mountainbiking plus weekly activities organised by the centre including welcome cocktails and group dinners.
