Marsa Alam, Red Sea
Marsa Alam offers windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand up paddleboard and diving holidays with a protected, shallow water area for beginners and flat water, chop and some swell further out for intermediates and experts. It is a great, uncrowded training spot with constant sideshore wind from the left. This is a fantastic place to windsurf and suitable for all levels. This superb untouched area has to be seen to be believed. with the Wadi Gamal National Park also a scuba diving and snorkelling paradise.
Sailing Spot and Conditions
We now offer two sailng areas; the first in El Nabaa Bay with windsurf and kitesurfing and the second in Wadi Gimal National Park with windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding. Both location offer a shallow, flat water launching area. El Nabaa Bay has separate bays for windsurfing and kitesurfing instruction. In both locations, as you sail out, you can find swell and moderate waves perfect to jump and play on. Directly in front of the center you will find the bay for the windsurfers and kitesurfers. The first 20 meters are sandy and shallow area with a jetty upwind and reefs to around 200m offshore, which protects the surfers bay from high waves. Outside of the reef, the height of the waves depends upon the wind strength, but they are always easy to control. On your way back to the lagoon you can really plane through all manoeuvres. The conditions offer a unique mix of shallow water and conditions suited to the more experienced. In Marsa Alam, the wind blows particularly steadily and consistently and does not turn, thus maximizing the effective wind hours you can spend on your board. Sign up for some pro coaching and non surfers can enjoy the superb beach hotel or a take beginner/refresher course with flexible packages for taster sessions, 2, 3 or 5 days courses including equipment. Intermediates and experts will also enjoy the clean, consistent winds and freestyle and slalom areas.
Culture and Activities
The area is ideal to explore the pictureque desert and Wadi Gamal National Park and is the gateway to the pristine, uncrowded diving and snorkelling of the southern Red Sea. The scuba dive centres based at the hotels offer a range of dive packages, snorkelling and courses. Boat and snorkelling trips to Gamal island are available. The surrounding landscape can be explore with a jeep safari or visit to the local village, Salatin. Further afield trips are available to visit Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and Aswan Dam. There is no local nightlife but the hotels have excellent bars and restaurants and occasional evening entertainment. This is the place to come and relax and enjoy the stunning, natural landscapes and superb sailing conditions.
