Safaga is set on the northern edge of a perfectly crescent shaped sandy bay, sweeping across five miles with crystal clear waters. Safaga in the Red Sea is an ideal choice for a windsurfing or kitesurfing holiday with flat water, windy conditions, turquoise lagoons and budget and luxury hotels next to the centre. Sailing Spot and Condition
Safaga is perfectly suitable for all skill levels. Based on the windward side of the bay, offering an easy blast to Toubia Island first thing in the morning, when the wind is blowing cross offshore. Tuition takes place in a shallow water area with ideal conditions for practising water starts. The sheltered beginner's lagoon offers very flat water and gentle wind. The beach launch area offers access to slalom, freeride and freestyle conditions. The side-offshore wind in the mornings favour an excursion to Toubia Island, a sandy island surround by turquoise water only 3.5km away. Afternoons offer a steady sideshore wind and the stronger it blows the longer it stays. The kitesurfing spot is about 300 meters downwind with it's own dedicated, new centre. Windsurfing and kitesurfing areas are separate.
Culture and Activities
Located about 30 miles south of Hurghada, it offers not only numerous diving bases but is arguably one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing spots. Spacious sandy beaches extend around the deep sea port of Safaga, with choice of 3*, 4* or 5* beach resort hotels in the best location. A perfectly crescent shaped sandy bay, sweeping some five miles across crystal clear waters. From here you can travel west through the low range of mountains and across the Sahara to the ancient town of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings to experience some of Egypt's ancient history. The contrast between the azure and turquoise colours of the ocean and desert landscape make this area an impressive holiday setting.
