Lassarga Windsurf Kitesurf Surf SUP Centre - Dakhla - Western Sahara, Africa

The Lassaga kitesurf, windsurf, surf and SUP centre is situated on the beach offering rental and instruction at the wave beach and in the flat water lagoon. Lassarga beach is also the location for regular Kirsty Jones Kite wave and yoga camps.

Location
Located at Lassarga beach, the centre is located approximately a 25 minute drive from Dakhla city and airport. The camp is located at the end of Dakhla peninsula, where the Lagoon meets the Atlantic, situated on the beach with beach side accommodation and restaurant. Around the corner, at the entrance to the lagoon, the wind is side to side offshore.

Services
The center is located at the beach right next to the beach restaurant, with chill out corner, a few minutes walk from your eco bungalow, with great views over the spot and is only a few minutes' walk away from an amazing point break. There are full rental and instruction services available for all levels of windsurfers, kitesurfers and a complete tuition programme for surfers and stand up paddle boarding.  Wetsuit, harness, helmet, life jacket, surf shoes rental is limited, therefore we recommend to bring your own accessories included surf shoes for the beginners beach on the lagoon side. A steamer in the winter and a shorty in the summer is recommended. Limited equipment storage is available when booked in advance.


Lassarga Spot and Excursions
The Lassarga 'Ocean side' spot is at the very top of the western point of Dakhla peninsular on the Dakhla city side. A completely natural beach with only the eco Camp and centre on the spot. Here you can enjoy the 1.5km sandy shore line, with amazing point break with right hand wave, where the swell comes from the north/north west, around the point and creates a series of waves. On good days, you can surf almost 1km from the point break to the fishing village at the end of the beach, potentially around 2 minutes on the wave. During the wave season (from October to March), in good conditions, you can expect an average of 50cm high wave, with good days going up to 1-1.5m and in big swalls between 2-2.5m or occasionally more. When conditions are good the spot works in all tides. The spot is also fantastic for wave windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUP and surfing and the wind is predominantly off shore. Windsurfing rental and instruction is only available from the ocean-side beach at the Lassarga centre on the spot. From April to September this is mainly a flat water/freeride spot and waves are not guaranteed each and every day. 

Windsurf, kitesurf and surf trips to other spots in the area. Only kitesurfing lessons are available at Lagoon Side spot which is  a shallow, flat water spot, at the entrance to the main Dakhla lagoon for beginner to intermediate kitesurf instruction, with side shore winds and ideal for beginners with flat water conditions year round, approx. 5 minutes car or approx. 10 minutes by small inflatable rib boat ride, (with small fee of around Euro 9 per round trip, payable locally for service/storage clients and free of charge for pre-booked kitesurf rental or instructions packages). For guests staying at Lassarga, all kitesurfing lessons, except for wave lessons, take place here. Windsurfing is not provided here, because of potential grounding or obstructions in the shallow water areas, with varied depths due to the sandbank and limited visibility through the water. 

For other spots you can arrange locally to get to the top of the main Dakhla Lagoon (around 45 minutes transfer), and excursions to Dakhla city, advance wave spot at Foum Labouir (approximately 15 minutes drive) so this is where all beginner, progressions lessons are carried out. Other local wave sports spots, Point d'Or, White Dune and Aarish are available bookable locally (between 45 minutes and 1½ hr drive respectively) on half day and full day excursions with charges payable to the centre.

Windsurfing Tuition: Beginner, Refresher, Kids, Advanced & Unlimited Premium.
Lessons are scheduled locally depending on the conditions. Lessons can be taken in front o of the centre, with offshore wind and just past the wave break, there are flat water conditions.

Beginner lessons are maximum 3 persons. If there is only 1 person in a group the time will be reduced but you will receive one to one instruction for the same rate! The content on the lesson can be requested in advance - such as beach start, stance, planing, harness and footstraps, gybing & freestyle manoeuvers.

Kitesurfing Tuition: Instruction: All levels. Private, semi-private, Beginner to Advanced. 

Lessons are scheduled locally depending on the prevailing conditions.
Beginners  lessons are normally in the morning before the wind increases. Lessons are usually 1-3 hours duration and either private or semi private. Semi Private lessons (maximum 2 students) are available. If there is only 1 person in a group less the time will be reduced but you will receive one to one instruction for the same rate! The content on the lesson can be requested in advance so that those of similar ability and similar goals will be grouped together. 

Kitesurf Camps are available at certain times for strapless wave riding for intermediate to advanced twin tip riders. More >
