Tarifa Kitesurf Centre Valdevaqueros Beach - Tarifa, Spain

Tarifa is a mecca for Kitesurfers and known as the 'windy capital' of Europe. The Duotone Kitesurf centre is located on Valdevaqueros beach. Situated approximately 10km west of Tarifa old town, Valdevaqueros beach offers a sandy beach with full service centre kitesurfing rental and instruction service for all levels with rescue service plus windsurfing and stand up paddle boarding. With accomodation a few minutes walk away plus onsite bar and restaurant you can be on the water in not time. Tarifa is very busy in July and August but it is open most months of the year and offers a variety of conditions to enjoy, plus a variety of excursions, plus many surf bars and restaurants in historic Tarifa town.

Location
The kitesurf centre is found on Valdevaqueros beach which is approximately 10km to the west of old Tarifa town. Valdevaqueros Bbay has a wide sandy beach with a sheltered area to the west side at Las Dunas. There are 2 main wind directions Poniente (side on-shore from the right) and Levante (side off-shore from the left) with heavy gusts up to 50 to 60 knots. The large beach makes a good environment for lessons although can get crowded in the summer time. Semi dry wetsuite recommend in spring/autumn and convertible/shorty in summer.

Facilities
Situated next to the centre, is a beach bar offering lunch and beverages with highly recommended burgers. Enjoy a sundowner in the Tumbao bar with music in the summer mnths and chilled beach club atmosphere. The centre has a shop selling accessories include equipment. WiFi is available.

Services
Full rental and instruction service for all levels from beginner to advanced, with a wide choice of the latest Duotone and North equipment There is a rescue boat on standby if needed. stand up paddle (SUP) boards are available to voucher clients at no extra charge on windless days. We recommend a semi-dry wetsuite in spring and autumn and a steamer or shorty in summerI. The centre have a limited supply of ION wetsuits, life vests and helmets available with rental and instruction packages but we recommend you bring your own if you have a specific size or requirement. Kitefoiling equipment is available to rent. Private Storage: Limited space available for those with their own equipment at an additional charge.This is required to be booked in advance to guarantee availability.

Sports and Activities
Other activities available include Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, SUP and surfing. Windsurfing can also be booked with our recommended windsurf centre at the same location. SUP tuition is available at beginner and wave levels and there are also SUP excursions paddling along the coast from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea. Semi private and private kitefoiling lessons are available.

Rental

Kite Foil rental requires a minimum level: IKO 3 or VDWS 5; safely kiting upwind and some experience in kite-foiling). Kite foil instruction is available and and assessment lesson is required to be pre-booked in advance of taking any equipment. Please contact us for rates.

Tuition
Kitesufing Tuition: Instruction: All levels. Private, Semi-Private, Beginner, Advanced.

Please note that Group kitesurf training is not available, only private (1 instructor to 1 person) or semi private (2 persons to 1 instructor). Lessons are usually 1-3 hours duration.  Semi Private lessons - please note iff there is only 1 person in a group the time will be reduced but you will receive one to one instruction for the same rate! The content on the lesson can be requested in advance so that those of similar ability and similar goals will be grouped together.

Joker voucher (available March) This special package combines instruction and rental for windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing allowing you to master all three sports in one week. Call for further details. (Please note that to participate in the kitesurf rental you will need to achieve IKO Level 3). 

 

Supervision can be booked locally for those wanting additional support when renting Kitesurf equipment, such as guiding or rescue service.
