Kos - Psalidi Kitesurf Centre - Kos - Psalidi, Greece & Mediterranean
The Kos Kitesurf Centre is positioned on the beach at Psalidi, on the Northeast coast of the Greek Island, just south of Kos Town. It has a nice chilled atmosphere and is committed to providing a quality and fun experience.
Open May – October.
Location
The centre is approximatly just 5km from Kos town and is situated on Psalidi beacj just south of Kos town. A ventrui effect is created betweek turkey and the greek coast. The beach area is being upgraded this summer with a shaded area on the pebbled and sandy beach. Lessons take place in a clear down wind area, also used for launching and language kites.
Sailing Area
Psalidi has a reputation for being one of the windiest spots on the island due to the Meltemi thermal wind which blows side shore from the left almost every day during the summer season. The beach is easily accessible by taxi, car or public bus and there is a free shuttle bus service twice a day from nearby hotels to the kitesurf centre. The beach slopes away quite quickly (5m), with the first 100m of flat water followed by a nice progressive swell. The wind comes mainly side off from the left which is why upwind body dragging is great to practice on this spot. The wind can average between 15 - 23 knots.
Facilities
The centre is run by experienced and IKO certified instructors who offer kitesurfing lessons inseveral languages including English, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Greek. There are also some nearby tavernas offering Greek cuisine and refreshments.
Services
Full instruction is available for learning to kitesurf, with expert kitesurfing equipment from North Kiteboarding with boards to suit different body types, skills and waves. Free Shuttle Bus service twice a day from nearby hotels to the kitesurf centre and safety rescue for all surfers. Lessons are for a maxium of 2 people and last 2 hours. Prices include equipment hire; kites, boards, body protection, safety equipment and transfer to the spot. If you are bringing your own equipment there are also storage facilities available at an additional charge. (This is required to be booked in advance to guarantee availability.)
