Sal Windsurf Centre - Sal - Cape Verdes, Cape Verde Islands

There are two Fanatic windsurf centres: The first on Santa Maria beach offering windsurf instruction for beginners and intermediates; the second from Ponte Leme beach, with range of Fanatic boards and Duotone/North sails for rental, a short shuttle ride away. Options for kitesurfing, surfing and stand up paddleboarding rental and instruction are also available. The centre is stocked with the latest Fanatic boards from freeride and freestyle to specialist wave boards for entry level to expert plus ION wetsuits.

Location
There are two windsurfing centres. Ponta Leme point and Santa Maria beach.

The main windsurfing centre is located at Ponta Leme point which is suitable for intermediate to advance level windsurf rental. Instruction is available for all levels. Here you can rent a range of Fanatic boards from freeride and freestyle to specialist wave boards and book instruction for intermediate to advanced windsurfing including freestyle and wave sailing. Ponta Leme is situated on the east coast of the island of Sal and is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Santa Maria beach center. Ponta Sino spot is also offered, with local fees payable for the excursion, with between 1-3m waves. Ponte Leme can have from 1-4m waves as well as flat water conditons for freestyle depending on the time of year. 

The Santa Maria beach centre is located on the stunning white sand beach of Santa Maria, is a small centre with windsurf instruction for beginners only, with side to side-offshore wind from the left. There is a spacious 2km fine sand beach, giving good access to the launch area. The centre offers a 'shore break' service to help you get into the water when there is a shorebreak. There is also kitesurfing, surfing and SUP rental and instruction available here. A limited about of storage is available at Ponta Leme when booked in advance.
 

Facilities
The centre has good facilties which include shower/WC nearby restaurant, bar, internet cafe and shop. Accessories available include new ION wetsuits, life vests, Duutone/North Sails boom, mast feet protectors and Vario harness lines. WiFi is available at the centre.


Services
Full rental and instruction service with a wide choice of the latest Fanatic boards and North sails. Video analysis available for advanced and unlimited lessons. There is a rescue boat on stand by if needed. SUP boards are available to voucher clients at no extra charge on windless days. Equipment available from the Santa Maria centre includes larger size beginner boards. Rental equipment available from the Ponte Leme centre are only smaller from 133l or less.  Shuttles are available between your hotel and the centres complimentary for pre-booked rental and instruction voucher guests. Sports & Activities
Excursions can be booked locally to other sailing spots. The full action multisport Joker package is available as well as kitesurfing and windsurfing. There is also SUP and surfing tuition available.

Tuition

Windsurfing Tuition: Beginner, Refresher, Kids, Advanced & Private/Semi Private.
Group lessons are a maximum of 6 persons. If there is only 1 person in a group the time will be reduced but you will receive one to one instruction for the same rate! The content on the lesson can be requested in advance - such as beach start, stance, planing, harness & footstraps, gybing and freestyle manoeuvers.

Kids Tuition: Windsurfing on Sal can offer challenging conditions. When the conditions are right, kids tuition on a wide sandy beach without any rocks and sideshore wind from the left.
