Bonaire - Windsurf Centre (RRD, Starboard) - Bonaire, Caribbean
The Bonaire windsurf centre in the Caribbean is located directly on Lac Bay and is set on a long stretch of white sand. The centre offers a world reknowned teaching programme starting from a young age. It's here that Olympian Patoen Saragoza, Tonky and Taty Frans started their windsurf careers and can often be seen perfecting their freestyle moves.

Location
The centre is located directly on Lac Bay directly in front of the Lac Baie studios, apartments and villas. The centre is a 10 minute drive from the airport and 15 minutes from the centre of town.
Conditions
The conditions are ideal for all levels of windsurfer offering flat, shallow turquoise waters for over 4km, sheltered by the offshore reef and glorious cross shore winds. The area has steady trade winds and has a deep part and a waist deep area, which at times when low tide comes around can be just a few feet deep. The centre is set on a long stretch of a white sandy beach and can offer world class slalom and freestyle windsurfing conditions.
Facilities
At the centre there is a wide sandy beach with sunchairs, spacious bar and restaurant area directly next to the rental and beach launch. A retail shop sells t-shirts, caps and other items you might need such as sun lotion & sunglasses, etc. There are car parking faciliities opposite the centre.
Services
Full rental and instruction service with a wide choice of the latest RRD & starboard boards and Hot Sails Maui & Naish sails. The boards have been designed in a twin fin configuration, to use smaller fins and still keep their handling, instead of 1 fin, that has to be twice as big. The centre provides free shuttles to and from the Sonrise Boutique Hotel,which is a popular accommodation for windsurfers. There is a rescue boat on stand by if needed. Private Storage is available with limited space, if pre-booked in advance.

Sportif recommend you take insurance to cover third party liability, as well as medical and general travel insurance, which is required as part of our terms and conditions of booking. However, your insurance may not provide cover for damage to equipment that is rented, so worth checking in advance of travel. |

Groups are a maximum of 4 people and each student can learn at their own rate.

Beginners - Intermediate:
Introduction to windsurfing for beginners, steering, stence, fast tacks, beginner fast tack, beginner beach start, Intro to harness use, committing to harness, getting in the front footstrap, chest to overhead waterstart, getting in the back footstrap, speed, efficiency, and upwind sailing, gybe set-up, smooth gybe initiation & carving, gybe footwork, sail flip, and faster exit.
Intermediate - Advanced:
Any of the above moves plus carving shortboard, super fast tacks, duck gybe plus specific instruction in 'Masters in laydowns', 'Milestones of chop hopping', theory & practice of the carving 360, jump gybe, dynamics of back wind gybing and fundamentals of looping.
