Margarita 27 Jan-07 Feb 2014
Run By : Simon Bornhoft Windsurfing Clinic
This new 2014 Simon Bornhoft windsurfing clinic offers superb shallow water conditions in the amazing Caribbean venue of El Yaque, Margarita. This is the perfect location for early to advanced intermediates and higher level sailors with excellent wind conditions in January to February. Coupled with an idyllic caribbean, laid back vibe, excellent quality hotel and first class Fanatic windsurfing centre as your base. Simon is looking forward to returning to one of the best coaching locations we have.
Margarita has a slant towards more experienced intermediates covering shorter board sailing in planing winds, covering everything from waterstarts, stance control, gybing and we’ll encourage you to try some simple Feasible Freestyle to take you to the next level - be that a sail 360 or a duck gybe etc. The coaching is broken down into specific SB ‘Windwise topics to focus on YOUR particular requirements. Using rewarding effective Windwise Skills Training, special demos, digital video and plenty of on water coaching, you’ll get all the encouragement and assistance you need to insure you improve.
Typical Course Level
Essentials to Advanced
Provided you can use a harness and plane, you will be able to join the group. The levels and abilities will then be split into smaller groups, so that specific topics can be covered to suit your requirements. If you have any concern about your level for the week, please get in contact and we’d be only too pleased to help.
We’ve been to Margarita for over either years and it’s become a real favourite. Easy launching, plentiful, consistent, cross-shore left to right winds and warm water. It can get crowded, but we often take clients to ‘The Secret Garden’ which offers fabulous flat water and a great blast back to the bay. The beach scene is vibrant with chilled beach bars, slow service and that laid back feel. Rum is cheaper than Coca Cola and we’ll take you to some truly fabulous places to eat.
In January and February your chances of wind are pretty much as good as it gets at that time of year anywhere in the world. Hence such a popular winter location. When the trades are in you’d expect to be on sail between 4.5-5.5m. Starting lighter in the morning and really building up by lunch time. If your body can handle it, you often get a good six-eight hours of solid wind a day. Plus you’ll see some of the world’s best freestylers making new moves.
