Rhodes - Ialyssos, Greece & Mediterranean

Sailing Spot and Conditions
There are three sailing spots you can sail from in Ialyssos in the North of Rhodes with a choice of equipment and variety of sailing conditions.The beach at Ialyssos faces a large open bay, shallow for the first 20m, with the clean Meltemi wind blowing cross-onshore from the left. Outside the bay, the swell forms superb jumping ramps. In the morning the wind is usually around 3 to 4 beaufort and in the afternoon, as the local winds builds to between 4 to 6 beaufort with consistent conditions between 15 and 25 knots, during the peak summer months. Best from July to August, northern Rhodes also has good sailing with conditions varying from flat water to 1.5m waves off shore on big days, from mid May to October. There is a choice of dedicated windsurf centres, beginners windsurf centre in a smaller bay with more sheltered conditions offering more flat water and less strong wings for 100m and kitesurf beach with North centre on the spot, with a complimentary shuttle between them. There are limitless historical sites on Rhodes as well as sparkling Mediterranean water and superb beaches. This island is the largest of the Dodecanese as well as excellent windsurf and kitesurfing in the north, Ialyssos is also a busy beach resort, with lots to do and a buzzing nightlife.
