The Barcelo Lanzarote Active Resort is a hotel designed for sports orientated individuals, families and groups. With Olympic size pool, it offers specialist training facilities and support services for triathletes, cyclists, and water sports enthusiasts with choice of specialist dietary, buffet and a la carte dining, wellness centre and spa, gym, special facilities for families, kids club and evening entertainment.
 
Location
The hotel is located Just south of Costa Teguise just between El Jablillo and Las Calestas approximately 15km, around 20 minutes drive, from the airport. It is close to the small, natural beach Playa del Ancia, which is around 500m away, with access down a moderate slope and some rocky areas. The main windsurfing and sandy beach is  Las Cucharas around 2.6km away, around a 5 minute transfer with the hotel's free shuttle bus, which runs during the day.

This hotel has 442 rooms, with 3 floors in 7 individual buildings with lift and stair access. Room categories include: Double Rooms, Family Room, Family Suite, Suite Deluxe with 2 bedrooms, Deluxe Sports Rooms and Deluxe Hipoxia Reooms.

Double Room (approx. 32m²)
Options for Pool and Sea View
These room are decorated in a cheerful and colourful style, with a living area in the bedroom, with 2 x twin beds, a rain-effect shower and complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Maximum room capacity is 2 people (2 adults). Room facilities include: en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, mini bar  (subject to charge) and in room safe (subject to local charge) and free WiFi.

1 Bedroom Family Suite
The Superior Family room has a separate bedroom with 2 x twin beds sofa bed and a cot with complimentary baby arrival pack in the room, consisting of a changing set, a baby bath, baby monitor and bottle warmer. The ensuite bathroom has a bath tub with shower over, with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer. The main bedroom has a sitting area with sofa bed, air conditioning, telephone, mini bar (subject to charge) and in room safe (subject to local charge) and free WiFi and Young families travelling are offers a Wii (subject to deposit). Maximum room capacity is for 4 people (possible combinations: 3 adults and one child; 2 adults and 2 children) with up to 2 extra beds for children possible in the bedroom on request. Cots are available, subject to local charge, which we recommend you request in advance of arrival.

2 Bedroom Deluxe Suite 
These luxurious suites are completely new with a modern and elegant design, with 2 large bedrooms (1 x king size bed and 2 x single beds), one with dressing room, a spacious living room with 42" LCD TV in both bedrooms, Lavazza experesso machine, ensuite bathroom with twin washbasins and two rain effect showsers, hairdryer, maginifyer mirror, exclusive guest toiletries, with bathrobe and slipper set. There is a furnished terrace. Maximum room capacity 4 adults.

Deluxe Sports Room
These rooms have been designed with a large, private terrace, a sleeping area with a king size bed and a lounge area with a comfortable sofa, each with a plasma TV, as well as a fully equipped bathroom with rain-effect shower. There is a a spacious training area with an exercise pad prepared for using TRX belts encourages guests to stay in shape in the privacy of your own room. An indoor hot tub with water filter and a panoramic window ( with request for activation at check-in), or a relaxing session in the private Finnish sauna. In addition, the room has a space for storing your sports equipment. Maximum room capacity 2 people.

Deluxe Hypoxia Room
The spacious, new Hypoxia Deluxe room has been designed for the athlete with a modern bedroom with an armchair and desk, a furnished balcony, a dressing room, and a bathroom with a rain-effect shower, bathrobe and slippers. The hypoxia system simulates altitudes of up to 4,000 m by reducing the concentration of oxygen in the air. Prolonged stays allow the body to increase production of red blood cells and all without having to leave, or sacrifice the comfort and service of your hotel room. The rooms also boast 2 single beds with T24.7 Ironman Recovery mattresses to maximise rest and recovery after intense training sessions. Room facilities include: 42" plasma TV, air conditioning, 2 single beds (1 x 2 m), desk, sofa,  balcony with seating area, dressing room and minibar (with local charge) with daily bottle of water (free of charge). After your private check in, there are welcome gifts. Maximum room capacity 2 people.

Facilities
The hotel offers a variety of pools, sports and entertainment to suit all ages and desgned for sports orientated individuals. There are 3 swimming pools for adults, 2 pools for children and a couple with slides to suit junior swimmers. The Olympic size pool is ideal for those training with 10 50m lanes with the water kept at 27C, turn flag indicators, hand rails, rroll support, is 2.10 m deep, with showers and changing rooms. For training, the gym is partly indoors and partly outdoors, with Technogym equipment for bodybuilding and cario excercise training. The professional bike centre highes a range of bicycles including standard, triathlon, road and mountain bikes bikes for additional charge. You can train on Bkool simulator bikes with choice of virtual cycling routes.

Children are well catered for with clubs, playground, climbing wall and range of activities including table footbal. The daily entertainment programme offers kids clubs from 3-15 years, (open from 10:30am-12:00pm and 15:00-17:00pm playground, activities such as mini golf , aqua aerobics, football and billiards are available. To relax the Wellness centre (16 years +) offers special treatments such as massage, facials, body wraps, manicures, sauna, gym (18 years +) and is open from 09:00am - 19:00pm.

The main restaurant offers meals buffet style, for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 07.30-10.30, 13.00-15.00, 19.00-22.00pm. There are a total of two a la carte restaurants, two buffett restaurants, three pool bars, two lobby bars and a sports bar plus range of healthy style gastro experiences. Board basis offered is Half Board (breakfast and dinner no drinks) or All Inclusive including breakfast, lunch, dinner (at set times) and drinks with wine, beer and spirits, plus selected national and international drinks. Other facilities include 1 24 hour reception, luggage storage, money exchange, internet area, ATM, upgrade to premium Wi-Fi (chargeable for higher speed Wi-Fi zones), mini market open on Saturdays and Sundays (from 10:00am to 20.00pm).

Our Opinion
The hotel provides an impressive range of sports facilities and facilities for the family with easy reach of the main, sandy beach at Las Cucharas. Food options are also superb, catering for all tastes. From here you can enjoy windsurfing, surfing, golf, yoga, trail running, the list is extensive a specific sports team attending to your specific needs.
