The Wind Resort in Kalpitiya is set direclty on the big lagoon with eco surfers resort and ideal for windsurfers or kitesurfers wanting to stay on the spot but have access to facilities such as bar, restaurant and swimming pool at the sister Palm Resort next door. Accommodation is in bungalow style accommodation, with private terrace and hammock, for up to 4 persons or budget rooms with shared facilities for those on a budget. 
 

Location
Kalpitiya is set on an elongated land spit creating a lagoon area from the coastal land and around 140km, 3-3.5 hour drive from Colombo International airport. The Wind Resort is located 200m from sister property, the Palm Resort, Kalpitiya and guests of both properties have use of the facilities in each resort. Nearby Kalpitiya village is around 4km away, approximately 15 minutes by local taxi.
 

Accommodation
This accommodation is made up of eco surf cabanas. Made from local, natural materials, each room features a terrace with own hammock and offers a cosy, resort with the chance to get to know other kiters and be part of the surfer community. Room categories include:

Surfer Cabana   Accommodates 2-3 persons.
These popular surfer bungalows offer excellent value. Each cabana features 1 x double bed with mosquito net and en suite bathroom with shower and toilet, private terrace, hammock and set within tropical garden location.

Family ‘Surfer’ Cabana  Accommodates 3-4 persons.
The Surfers Family Bungalow offers space for your 3-4 friends or family members. The Bungalow features 1 x double bed and 2 x single beds with mosquito nets integrated bathroom with shower and toilet and a larger terrace than the Surfer Cabana. Children 1-5 years stay FREE. Children 6-12 receive 50% discount on accommodation.

Standard Room  Accommodates 1-2 persons
The Surfers Standard Style room feature 1 x double bed with mosquito net and en suite bathroom with shower and toilet. Outside balcony with hammock

Guest House Room  Accommodates 1-2 persons
Feature 1 x double bed with mosquito nets as well as several hotel rooms facilities including shared communal bathroom with lockable showers and European style toilets. A common terrace with hammocks make it an ideal place to chat and while away after your kitesurf / windsurf day with your friends and neighbours.
 

Facilities 
The accommodation is sold on BB (bed and breakfast buffet with eggs and fruit, or Full Board basis. Full board including breakfast, lunch (Sri Lankan buffet) and dinner with choices of Sri Lanka specialties (with not too spicy options) as well as international dishes are available along with BBQ and show cooking, with water at meals.

Guests of the Wind Resort are able to use the facilities at the sister property Palms Resort, 200m away, around 5 minutes walk include a swimming pool and small baby pool, with surrounding natural palm trees and garden area. Beach volleyball, table tennis, games and books, water aerobics, fitness sessions, yoga, Ayurveda treatments and massage are available at the resort. Beach fees are included with your room. Extension and cultural tours around Sri Lanka, before and after your stay, are organized with specialist local tour guides and agent.

Windsurf / Kitesurf Centre
The main rental and instruction centres are approximately 5 minutes walk 200m located at the sister property, Palms Resort, next door. 
 

Our Opinion
Ideal for those looking for more relaxed, budget, eco accommodation set in a nature environment. Guest house rooms offers excellent value and chance to socialise with other solo travelers. Choose your own eco surfer cabana for a quieter, back to nature experience.
