Mauritius Nov - Dec 2025
Run By : Peter Hart Windsurfing Clinics
The Peter Hart Windsurfing clinic in Mauritius is returning to Le Morne next November to December 2025. The group will be staying at the 4* Le Morne, adults only all inclusive hotel right on the Le Morne lagoon. Join Peter for an amazing 10 - 14 day windsurfing holiday with individual coaching from one of the best professional coaches and top technique 'guru'. This year's 'Masterclass' covers everything from water starting to wave sailing at one of the very best windsurfing venues in the world, offering possibly the widest range of conditions.
Peter Hart Profile
Peter Hart is one of the most well known windsurfers of all time. A former British speed and slalom champion he has been voted as one of the top 3 most influential windsurfers of all time and recently elected to the Windsurfing Hall of Fame. As Technique Editor of the leading Windsurf Magazine, elite coach and filmmaker, he has published 4 books, 20 instructional videos and DVDs. Peter Masterclass clinics take place at some of the very best windsurfing venues around the world.
The Venue
The Mauritius Peter Hart Masterclass covers everything from waterstarts to wavesailing in the idyllic spot at Le Morne. This was Peter’s reaction when he first scouted out Mauritius for a windsurfing clinic location in 2004. Peter said, “I was there for a week and it was SO good, 20 knots of solid side shore wind every day, gorgeous waves on the reef, that I smelled a rat and asked the Centre manager time and time again if this was the best week they’d ever had. He said, hand on heart, it was pretty normal. And so it turned out to me."
"Conditions were so good that the photos do NOT do it justice - and to have such amazing windsurfing conditions (suitable for all standards). Words fail me to describe its beauty both as a place and a windsurfing venue. Lying some 500 miles to the east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius challenges Maui for windsurfing perfection. It's a beautiful island with a fascinating ethnic west/east mix. After just a week there in 2005, I had no hesitation adding it to the calendar," says Peter.
Typical Course Level
"It’s NOT an ‘experts only’ clinic! The required standard, planing in the footstraps and harness on a sub 120 ltr board. Intermediates are welcome because there are genuinely conditions to suit all standards as long as you are confident swimming in, around and under breaking waves. It’s the best news for windsurfing couples or friends who are at different levels ... and the perfect place to crack the waterstarts. As for who will enjoy the sailing, it's everyone from first time gybers to the most ardent wave heads." Typically, Peter will do a flat water and a wave session every day. Check out the video below to see the conditions.
Course Details
It's general skills and waves. Waterstarts through to bottom turns and loops and you can personalise the course to suit your level and goals. In the lagoon there's no shorebreak and it's just a metre deep. Peter will sail alongside you, then stop for a rest and some instant feedback. Then you can continue out through the channel and, if you're willing you can line up together on waves like this with Peter.
The Conditions
Launch off a white sand beach into a metre deep lagoon and a freestyle, carving heaven. The trades prevail from the south east, which is side-shore from the left. It's a solid wind usually over 20 knots, between 18-25 knots typically. The most common sail size that centre rent out is 5.0. The attraction is the wide variety of conditions. Some can be ripping the waves on the reef while others cracks the watertstart in the lagoon – all in the same sailing area.
For wave sailing, you can choose one of three reefs that will present you with easy, first time jumping ramps, classic down-the-line glassy walls or charging hollow waves at least as powerful as Hookipa. 200 metres out Little Reef offers friendly (usually) waist to head high waves perfect for jumping and first time riding. One km further out lies Manawa reef, where swells bend in around a horseshoe reef and peel as they do in the movies. They can be big but actually are pretty easy to handle by anyone with a little open water experience.
"The wind blows most of the year but the really windy and wavy season is June to October (their winter). It seems that the only months to avoid are Jan and Feb but even they can get over 50%. November and early December, when I hold the clinics, are considered ideal as you still have the wind, the waves are a manageable size AND you have the start of the more settled summer weather." says Peter.
