ESSAOUIRA MOROCCO SPORTIF RESORT REPORT

Essaouira Windsurf Centre - Essaouira - Morocco, Africa
The Essaouira windsurfing centre on the west coach of Morocco is located in the middle of a long curved sandy bay (4 km long). Full rental and instruction programmes are available with the latest windsurfing equipment from Fanatic and Duotone. A wonderful cafe is next door and our recommended accommodation is just a short walk away.
Open
November - March, daily 10am - 5pm.
Winter break: 30 November - 15 December,.
July and August daily 10am - 7pm. Rest of the year daily 10am - 6pm.
Location
The windsurf centre is located on a 4km sandy beach in Essaouira in the same building as the kitesurf center. The bay has flat to choppy waters with waves and a slight shorebreak. The bay provides a huge area for both lessons and also offers the opportunity to practice manoeuvers. At low tide, the sea recedes about 150m. The spot is absolutely ideal for wave novices, the sandy bottom shelves gently, ensuring easy access and a shallow area near the edge. Wave excursions to Sidi Kaouki and Moulay for expert sailors.
Facilities
Next door to the centre is the Ocean Vagabond restaurant which has sun loungers, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cool drink. Accessories available include ION school wetsuits and life vests and helmets. WiFi is available at the centre.
Services
Full rental and instruction services with a wide choice of the latest Fanatic Boards and North Sails are available. There are 2 rescue boats on stand by if needed. SUP boards are available to voucher clients at no extra charge on windless days. Accessories include ION wetsuits and life vests, North Sails Boom and Mast, feet protectors and Vario harness lines. There is limited space for those with their own equipment at an additional charge. (This is required to be booked in advance to guarantee availability.)
Sports and Activities
Other activities such as kitesurfing, SUP and surfing are available at the centre. There is also a SUP excursion to the island in front of the bay, which is offered by the centre. SUP tuition is also available from the centre. Surfing tuition is available all year for Beginners, Kids, Advanced and Private Tuition. Wind foiling rental, private and semi private lessons are available.

Tuition
Windsurfing Tuition: Beginner - Intermedate - Advanced.
Windsurf Group Training The windsurf centre in Essaouira is no longer offering windsurf group training/lessons for beginners or early intermediates. Due to the quite challenging wind and wave conditions that can often be at this spot. Windsurf beginner and refresher course can only be booked as a semi-private or private course.
Lessons are usually scheduled for 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm depending on the local conditions but specific timings can be requested in advance or agreed, depending on instructor availability at the centre on arrival. The content on the lesson can be requested in advance - such as beach start, stance, planing, harness and footstraps, gybing and freestyle manoeuvers.
