windsurf, kitesurf, surfing & activity holidays in Moulay - Morocco
Travelling north from Essaouira for twenty minutes is the astounding wave spot of Moulay Bouzerktoune. The Atlantic and North East Trade winds join forces to make conditions that will tax even the most experienced wave sailor. There is no kitesurfing or surfing in Moulay which takes place in Essaouira.
Sailing Spot and Conditions
Here the wind is general 1-2 bft stronger than Essaouira. In summer (June to August) the wind is very strong with smaller waves. In Spring and Autumn the swell is bigger but the wind lighter- averaging 4-6bts. The wind is lighter in the morning and great for surfing.
International contests take place here with top sailors often seen training including local hero Boujmaa Guilloul.
Sidi Kaouki
Heading south for the same distance as Moulay, Sidi Kaouki is where 2 to 3 meter high waves break onto a 4.5 km long beach. The wind is cross shore from the right and generally 1-2 bft stronger than Moulay. This venue has no safety boat and is only for experienced wave sailors and sailing here is at your own risk.
