Imagine a seemingly endless expanse of turquoise sea, where the water is a constant 27 degrees and you can sail all day, every day in winds of 20-30 knots. Fringed by coconut palms, the beach at Jeri has been voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Every day at dusk, the villagers climb the huge sand dune to watch the most spectacular sunsets then the partying begins. Jericoacoara is an isolated, former fishing village with a small population on the North East coast, around 300km west of Fortaleza. With no roads for the last few miles, access is only via 4WD or helicopter. The tempo of life starts slowing from the very moment you step off the plane as the rhythm of Brazil works its magic.
Sailing Spot & Conditions
Sailing conditions are almost perfect with sand underfoot; so forget the shoes and wetsuit. Although not really suitable for beginners, it is possible to practice the basics in safety early in the morning or on the 9 mile Paradise Lake which is a 20 minute buggy ride away. The main sailing area is close to the town in the gently sweeping bay. Inshore the water is flat with small wavelets. Once outside on the wind line the true face of Jericoacoara can be appreciated with 4m to 5m sailing from June to February. On the point, the ever present waves are at their best, never intimidating but one of the features of the venue.

Jeri Kitezone
The kite beach in Jericoacoara is perfect for kiting and offers the best choice for reliable winds, flat water and wide open space in North East Brazil. The " kitezone " is 1 mile away from the world famous Jeri windsurfing spot and as Jeri Kite Beach is not on the Atlantic Ocean it does not have oceanic swell seen in most other beaches in the region. As well as the flat water conditions and consistent wind, there are miles of empty water for you to enjoy, perfect for freestyle.
