windsurfing holidays in Golf De Rosas - Spain
Located on the Catalan coast, the huge Bay of Rosas has built up an enviable reputation with windsurfers and kitesurfers. An easy scenic drive from Barcelona or Gerona, the magnificent 7km long sandy beach also makes it a hugely popular family resort. The area offers much to see with a variety of activities and places to see. Cycling routes abound either through flat, countryside roads or up towards the Pyrenees where there is rafting, canyoning and free fall parachuting. Visit local ancient archaeological sites at Sant Marti d'Empuries or picturesque villages such as L'Escala offering excellent tapas bars, restaurants, discos and small boutiques. The Dali museum is less than 30 minutes or why not add a couple of days in Barcelona. The choice is endless.
Sailing Spot & Conditions
The on-shore conditions with a 30m shallow water area make it perfect spot for progressing to the next level. The prevailing ‘Garbi' wind often increases the dominating thermal. The northerly "Tramontana", usually coming in the cooler months, can also create strong winds in midsummer. With good reason, the Windsurfing World Cup has taken place here for seven years now. On good days impressive waves build up near the shore. In the late afternoon the wind often turns to a sideshore from the right and reaches up to 6 beaufort. The light wind mornings are ideal for beginners and children.

Thanks to the cross-onshore wind nobody can drift and signs and buoys clearly mark the swimming, windsurfing and kitesurfing areas. A thrilling and yet safe spot where everybody can make the most of their time no matter whether they are into waves freestylers, freeriders, kiters or kids.
Culture
Although the historic area now makes its living mainly from fishing and tourism there is still plenty to see and do in the surrounding area when you need a break from the action on the water. There are numerous bodegas in the area and some will even bottle your favourite for you as a memento. There are historic ruins nearby or for those interested in art, the Dali museum in Figueres or Dali's house in Cadeques. If you are into adrenalin sports why not take a trip to Ampuria Barva, which offers free fall parachuting.
