Anse Le Raie in Mauritius offers kitesurfing and windsurfing holidays in the north east, as an alterntive flat water lagoon, enlosed by the reef and choice of luxury hotels. All over the island the clusters of population are focused around the plantations where the gentle waves of swaying sugar cane dominate the landscape. The multi-cultural capital, Port Louis, is a trading point for exotic fruit, vegetables and spices as well as a duty free shopping & commercial centre. Pure tradewinds blow year round across magnificent turquoise, flatwater lagoons. Anse Le Raie is a flat water kitesurfing and windsurfing location protected by the reef with side shore wind just 1.5 hours north of the Airport.
Sailing Spot & Conditions
Anse Le Raie is a bay set on the North East of Mauritius. The majority of the coastline is fringed by a reef approximately 2.5 km offshore, creating a vast lagoon ideal for kitesurfing and flat water windsurfing. It is ideal for learning to windsurf or Kitesurf with the sheltered conditions and wind side shore from the right. The beaches are set in small coves. Anse Le Raie, where the centre is based, is set in a 300m wide cove, with mostly knee deep, shallow water with sand. Kitesurf lessons are support by shuttle training boats to get you to the best spot in the lagoon, with plenty of space and optimum conditions. Independent kitesurfers booked in at our centre are provided with a beach service, assisting launch, landing and providing rescue support. Regular downwinders are organised with support boat.
Culture & Activities
Mauritius and the north of the island is mainly beach hotel resorts with local bars and restaurants nearby servicing hotel guest who venture out to Grand Bay nearby with music bars and nightclubs. It is worth venturing out to see the Port capital of St Luise with it's duty free shops and local markets. The countryside is a mix of sugar cane plantations, interior hills leading to traditional villages built along the coast line. An island sightseeing tour will show you the best sights in a day. Locally you can enjoy boat trips, with a picnic and swimming with dolphins if you are lucky. Other activities include beach BBQs, snorkelling, diving, fishing, surfing, SUP and welcome cocktail party at kitesurf centre.
